Most of these
modules are held off-site at the National Technical Institute for the
Deaf's server, using a system called Ideatools. It is strongly
advised that you you go through the brief Site Tutorial before
beginning a module.
We also
suggest that you view these modules with a PC (not a Mac). The
Ideatools system was not designed for use with Macintoshs, and if you
view the modules, you may have some difficulty at times.
Finally, before
starting a module, please make sure there are no requirements to
satisfy before starting.

Dynamics Online>
Before
you start this workshop, you borrow the following video from your
Regional Site lending library, or other source:
Working With a Sign Language Interpreter.
Sign Media, Videotape, (30 minutes).
It can
be ordered from your Regional Site Coordinator and the
Regional Site Lending library. It is not needed until near
the end of the module, but you may wish to wait until you have it
before starting the workshop.
You will also be
downloading PDF files. If you don't already have it on your
computer, you will need to download the Adobe Acrobat Reader v6.0 or
higher to view the PDF files.

not need to view the entire film.)
Training Students to
Work with Educational Interpreters Online
In order to
benefit fully from this module we strongly suggest that you first complete the following
workshops:

Education of Deaf Children workshop for an understanding
of child development in the learning process and the impact of
deafness on that process.

The Educational
Interpreter Ethics: General View: K-12 Grades workshop for
application of ethics in a K-12 educational setting.
You should also
read the New York State Guidelines for Educational Interpreters to gain
an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the educational
interpreter, teacher, and student consumer. You can obtain a copy
of this booklet through your Regional Site Coordinator, or view an
online version here.
