Laura Braggiotti has worked in the interpreting field for the last 15 years. Her focus is academic interpreting, K-12. Her degrees include an AAS in Interpreting and Support Services, a Bachelor's in English, and a Master's in Elementary Education. In order to keep current in the field, Laura has attended a wide variety of interpreting related courses, workshops and conventions. In addition, she has presented at both schools and conventions. The workshop she is currently presenting with her colleague Jeanne Wells is a result of years of musing and experimenting with various aspects of the academic interpreting situation. Her "resources" have been and continue to be the children themselves, colleagues, and deaf community members. She considers this presentation a creative work in progress and welcomes the input and insights of others. It is hoped that this presentation will stimulate more ideas that will lead to positive changes in this important area of helping the students to help themselves.
