Developers: Sallie Bruno, AA, IC/TC,

Level: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
Maximum Number or Participants: 15
Total hours: 4 hours
This workshop will provide participants with an opportunity to further
develop ethical thinking and decision making, specific to the high school
educational setting. Educational interpreters often find themselves
in a long-term assignment, interacting with Deaf students, hearing students
and other professionals in a learning community where every adult is looked
upon as a teacher and potential role model. Through readings, lectures,
guided discussions and role play scenarios, participants will analyze the
ethical role of interpreters in the educational setting, how functioning
as a team member is affected by the RID Code of Ethics and how to respond
to seeming conflicts with the Code of Ethics and role of the educational
interpreter in a professional manner.
