Hearing, Language, and Communication and the Special Needs Deaf Child

This workshop will provide an opportunity for educational interpreters of deaf students to develop a basic understanding of the language/communication needs of the special needs deaf child living and learning between two worlds - the deaf world and the hearing world.  Participants will be exposed to how we hear, types of hearing loss, degrees of hearing loss, assistive technology for the deaf and hard-of-hearing population, language development, and language/communication issues related to language learning difficulties.
